About
20th Anniversary of
“Deaf President Now!”

“Our dream lives on”

In 1988, the Deaf community had a dream, the dream of a Deaf president for Gallaudet University. Working together with the hearing community, we made our dream come true. Twenty years later, DPN remains an unprecedented and unforgettable event in Deaf history. During the past 20 years, however, the true message of DPN has gotten lost and became synonymous with Dr. I. King Jordan's name. This was not the message of DPN.

As we near the 20th anniversary of DPN, we have a fantastic opportunity to reclaim our dream and our message. Let us relive the DPN experience and remind ourselves what we can accomplish when we all work together. Let us continue our old dream and create new ones! Come join Tim Rarus, Greg Hlibok, Bridgetta Bourne-Firl, and many others at the 20th-anniversary banquet and let the world know OUR DREAM LIVES ON.
